In case you're wondering about my politics, in the last 4 US Presidential elections I've voted for people on the Republican, Democrat and Libertarian parties. I'm all over the map :-) I believe that Christians can vote Republican or Democrat or Libertarian or even Green. I STRONGLY believe that people should exercise their faith in the political realm, but I think it's helpful to see that we're following God; He's not following our political ideologies.

And that works beyond the political realm as well.

Happy Veterans' Day! To all those who have served in the armed forces, thank you for your sacrifice. To those in the military now (including my brother-in-law Mike), our prayers are with you. Thank you for serving at such a difficult time.

Here's episode 1 - quite a bit longer than I had hoped, but I figured it would be good to get a real episode up sooner rather than re-recording and releasing it later. I hope that future episodes are in the ~8-10min range.

Our topic for today is: Can faith and doubt coexist? Are or is the whole thesis of this podcast an oxymoron? What is faith; what is doubt; and where do they come from? Does doubt have a purpose?

I'm pretty sure that the genesis of the idea for what is becoming QFD came form an off-handed comment on a Radical Congruency podcast, lamenting the fact that no emerging church podcasts were dealing with Scripture. I'm not sure which podcast that came from, but here's a link to the whole podcast category at RC, and a link to the Radical Congruency blog.

And finally, my favorite weblog dealing with Christianity is Wired Jesus. I strongly recommend subscribing, and also going back to listen to Episodes #14 and #15, in which Wired Jesus reflects upon a long and deeply personal podcast at the Evil Genius Chronicles about the loss of faith. I believe all Christians would benefit from listening to those podcasts.

What is a Podcast?

If you're not yet familiar with podcasting, hopefully this little ditty will help clear things up for you.

A podcast is a term that describes publishing audio or video programs on the Internet. Think of it as public access television with broader distribution, and more frequently as audio clips. Here's what Wikipedia has to say in describing podcasts.

Podcasts can be listened to by simply clicking on the web link to the audio file - in this blog, you'll find that the blog entry title is clickable. That downloads the file to your computer, and you can listen directly to the episode.

Or, you can use a podcasting client - iPodder is one choice; iTunes is another - which will automatically check for and then download new episodes, and optionally synch them to your portable MP3 devide (iPod, etc). In this podcast, you can click through to our Feedburner feed, and on the right side column you'll see several subscription options. Pick the ones that best suit your needs.
